Privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026
This policy explains what information TagKite collects, why, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, email hello@tagkite.com.
Who we are
TagKite is a keyword research and listing tool for Etsy sellers. TagKite is based in New York, USA (“TagKite”, “we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Your name and email address | You, when you request beta access or create an account | To run your account, contact you about the service and answer support requests |
| Your Etsy shop profile and listings (titles, tags, descriptions, prices, photos, attributes, listing statistics) | Etsy, after you connect your shop and approve access | To analyze your listings, suggest improvements and apply changes you approve |
| Your Etsy orders and transactions (dates, items, quantities, amounts, buyer country) | Etsy, only if you approve sales access | To show your sales, revenue and best-selling listings inside TagKite |
| Access tokens for your Etsy connection | Etsy, when you connect your shop | To make requests to Etsy on your behalf. Tokens are stored in encrypted form |
| Public Etsy data, such as active listings and shop information returned by Etsy's API for a search | Etsy's official API | To provide keyword research and market information |
| Product details and text you type into TagKite | You | To generate the title, tag and description suggestions you ask for |
| Billing details, once paid plans begin | You, through our payment provider | To take payment. Card details go directly to the payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers |
| Basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, error logs) | Your browser and our hosting provider | To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems |
We do not store buyers' names, email addresses or street addresses from your orders. When Etsy returns them as part of an order, we discard them and keep only what is listed above.
We use only cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we handle Etsy data
- We access Etsy only through Etsy's official API. We do not scrape Etsy's website.
- We request only the data that the feature you are using needs.
- We refresh Etsy content within Etsy's limits: listing information is never shown more than 6 hours out of date, and other Etsy content is never shown more than 24 hours out of date.
- We keep historical records of Etsy data only where Etsy has authorized it, and we tell you in the app when a feature uses them.
- We never sell Etsy data or share it with anyone for their own purposes.
- We never use Etsy content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- You can disconnect your shop at any time in TagKite. We then delete your shop data within 30 days.
How we use AI
When you ask TagKite to draft a title, tags or a description, we send the product details you entered, and the listing text you choose to improve, to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate suggestions. Anthropic's commercial terms do not allow it to train its models on this content. The suggestions are a starting point: you review and edit them before anything is used on Etsy.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run TagKite, and only as needed for them to do so:
- Hosting and databases, to run the website and store your account securely
- An AI provider, Anthropic, to generate writing suggestions
- A search-data provider, to supply keyword search volumes. We send it keywords only, never your personal or shop information
- A payment provider, once paid plans begin, to process payments and handle sales tax
- An email provider, to send account and service emails
- Bunny Fonts, which serves the fonts on this website. Bunny Fonts states that it does not log visitors' personal data
We will disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others. If TagKite is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy, and we will tell you first.
How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days of closing it.
- Etsy shop data: refreshed within Etsy's limits, and deleted within 30 days of disconnecting your shop or closing your account.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Technical logs: up to 90 days.
How we protect information
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, store Etsy access tokens in encrypted form, limit staff access to what is needed to run the service, and use providers with strong security practices. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you promptly.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email hello@tagkite.com and we will reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and some US states, you may have further rights under local law, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
TagKite is for sellers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a significant change, we will update the date above and tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
